Annie Macaulay says ‘I do’ to 2Face in Dubai

African Queen crooner Tuface Idibia and actress Annie Macaulay’s much-talked about wedding in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on Friday, March 22 will definitely go down as one of Nollywood’s best.

It will be the best, not only because of the plush Arabian panache that engulfed the event, but also it witnessed a celebration that featured some of Nollywood’s crème de la crème.

The ‘white’ wedding follows a successful traditional wedding on Friday, March 8 at the Apostolic High School, Esit Urua Community, Eket – Ibeno Road, in Uyo, 2Face’s wife Annie Macaulay’s hometown.

2Face proposed to Annie with a diamond studded engagement ring – believed to cost the singer a whopping one million Naira – on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2012 at Jay Jay Okocha‘s Club 10 in Lagos, Nigeria.

He proposed to her even though he was reported to have also fathered children with Pero Adeniyi and Sumbo Ajaba.

Known in real life as Innocent Ujah Idibia, Tuface followed the proposal with a secret ‘marriage’ in Lagos on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, which was only attended by selected family members and friends.

The beautiful sandy beach of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai on March 22, was where renowned celebrities including, Rita Dominic, Chidi Mokeme, Ini Edo, Kate Henshaw, Mike Ezuruonye, Jim Iyke, Sound Sultan, Banky W, Basketmouth, Timaya, Don Jazzy, Dr Sid, and Davido joined the couple as they exchanged their final marital vows.

The absence of D’Banj, Tony Tetuila and Faze did not mar the event which also included a reception at the Royal Island Beach and an after-party at Kiza Nite Club.

The cost of the historic wedding, according to pre-event speculations, N50million (over US$300,000) but there are indications that that amount may be just a tip of the iceberg.

The newlywed couple – believed to have dated for about 14 years and have a daughter, Isabella Idibia – are expected have their honeymoon in Dubai.

The wedding gift

The couple received gifts that are set to keep tongues wagging for a long time to come.

Nigerian Senate President, David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark, who hails from Tuface’s state, presented the couple with a two-door 2013 Corvette sports car – which costs between US$50,000 and US$100,000 – as their wedding gift.

During the traditional wedding, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, who hails from Annie’s state, presented them with two expensive SUVs.

That attracted a huge public outrage.
