Veteran Nollywood actor Justus Esiri to be buried April 12

The mortal remains of veteran Nollywood actor Justus Esiri will be laid to rest at his hometown, Abraka in Delta State, Nigeria on April 12, according to statement from the family.

The statement, released on Sunday and signed by Mr. George Esiri, said several activities lined up to mark the final journey of the actor were in two phases.

The first phase will include service of songs on April 9 and a mass on April 10 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Mafoluku, Lagos, Nigeria.

The body of the actor will be airlifted to Warri, Delta State and then Abraka for the final phase of the burial activities.

The statement said a second mass will be held at the Polo Turf in Abraka on April 12 where the remains of Justus Esiri will be laid in state before his interment the same day.

The actor, popularly known as ‘Village Headmaster’, died on February 19, 2013, following a complication from diabetes.

Born on November 6, 1942, Chief Justus Esiri was a strong believer in family values and a great supporter of Nollywood, the statement added.

He was an Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) and the Otun Amuludun of the Source in Ile-Ife Osun State.

Justus Esiri was survived by a wife; Mrs Omiete Esiri, children; Mrs Ophlia Edewor, Mrs Ejiro Efijemueh, Mr Justus Esiri Jnr, Dr Sidney Esiri (Dr Sid), Mr Andrew Esiri, Miss Tobor Esiri and grand children.
