Just In: Hon. Ken Agyapong suffering from Coronavirus complications – Lawyers explain absence in court.

Lawyers for Assin Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong says he is “suffering from complications from the Covid-19 condition he suffered last month”.

This explanation from the legal practitioners of the celebrity MP’s corner follows the absence of the controversial legislator in court on Monday morning.

In an anticipation of what appeared to be his second appearance, Hon. Ken Agyapong who was dragged to the Accra High Court by Justice Wuni risks a possible jail term or fine should he be found guilty of the contempt labelled against him.

The charge follows earlier incessant jabs by the celebrity MP during a live television programme on a pending case via his Net2TV GH with host Justice Kweku Annan on the infamous “The Seat” show.

The controversial MP’s lawyers led by Kwame Gyan, his junior brother Lawyer Agyapong and the Effutu Constituency legistor, Hon. Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, on September 18 urged the court to halt proceedings explaining they had filed an application at the Supreme Court challenging Justice Awuni’s jurisdiction to hear the pending case.

Justice Wuni, however, had argued that nothing prevented him from presiding over the case as he adjourned proceedings to September 25 to hear further legal arguments from Mr. Agyapong’s team.

Fast forward, the court on September 25 was informed of a petition by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong and his legal team to the Chief Justice alleging possible bias in the part of the sitting judge. This was the reason why the case was further adjourned to today – 28th September, 2020.

But giving more details about why their client was unavailable today, Lead Counsel for embattled Mr. Agyapong, Mr Kwame Gyan, said they had attached a note from his doctor to be handed to the court.

The MP’s lawyers told the court;

“Our client, the honorable Kennedy Agyapong suffered from complications from the post-COVID-19 condition that he suffered last month”.

“We arranged for him to seek treatment from the same doctor who treated him of Covid-19.”.

Justice Amos Wuni adjourned proceedings to Thursday, October 1 in order that the doctor appears to explain the note.

Netizens have reacted to this Kennedy Agyapong Contempt Case as many see it as a punishment from God because of how the Assin Central MP dealt with some men of Ghana such as Angel Obinim of International God’s Way Church, Bishop Charles Agyinasare of Perez Chapel, Prophet Nigel of Prophetic Hill Chapel, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi and others.
