Abrantie, No Tribe Streal Show @ Famous 5 Concert

ONE OF Ghana’s seasoned high life musicians, Abrantie Amakye Dede, enjoyed a huge backing at the Famous 5 musical concert held at the Accra International Conference Centre last Friday.

The Famous 5 concert, which was organized by an Accra-based radio station, Peace FM, attracted thousands of highlife music fans from all walks of life.

It also featured music icons such as Kojo Antwi, Kwabena Kwabena, 5 Five and No Tribe.

The show kicked off with a performance by Kwabena Kwabena, who performed most of his hit songs including the crowd puller ‘Sε Obi Do Wo A, Do No Bi’. He was immediately followed by the Adabraka boys, 5 Five, who performed two of their hit songs.

No Tribe, a gospel musical group led by Nacy, who were next to perform, raised the tempo in the auditorium. As usual the group set the enthusiastic fans into frenzy when they took the stage and treated patrons to an unforgettable performance.

The members of No Tribe, who were very hot on stage, thrilled patrons with their danceable praise medleys and worship tunes. Their creative performance on stage earned them another credential as one of the most thrilling gospel musicians in the country.

Backed by his own bandsmen, Abrantie Amakye Dede’s performance was without doubt the most thrilling when compared to the others. As at the time Abrantie mounted the stage to perform, the auditorium was still filled to capacity, and everybody was on his or her feet dancing and singing alongside the highlife star. It was indeed a ‘serious’ night for the illustrious son of Ghana.

Known for delivering mid-tempo songs that always bring out the best in him, Abrantie possibly challenged himself at the show when he performed for more than one hour.

Everyone was simply in tune with his decades-old household songs, and they naturally tapped their feet to the rhythm.

His great vocal versatility, dynamic movements and general stage charisma was applauded nonstop during his performance.

Fans squeezed the sweat from their handkerchiefs after one hour of dancing and were even prepared for more.

Anyone who had the opportunity to see Amakye Dede live in action that day will attest to the fact that he is one of the greatest Ghanaian highlife musicians who can perform for long hours.

‘I did my best to satisfy music fans at the show. I was shocked when fans were on their feet dancing to show appreciation to my stage act’, Abrantie told BEATWAVES after the show.

Mr. Music Man, Kojo Antwi, who also performed, did not disappoint his fans. Indeed, music lovers were more than satisfied with his performance and stagecraft.

For over 30 minutes, Kojo held the audience spellbound with his music and stunning dance moves, and it didn’t come as a surprise when at the end of his performance, he received a standing ovation.
