Abrantie Rocks Kumasi

Abrantie Amakye Dede’s end-of- year musical concert held at the Miklin Hotel in Kumasi last Friday, December 30, 2011, would forever be remembered as the biggest when compared to other musical events held in Kumasi.

The event, which was organized by Africa Origin Travels and Sports Tourism, attracted over 5,000 music fans from all walks of life who turned up to reunite with old pals and reminisce about ‘the good old days’.

The show was organized to create awareness and promote the 2012 London Olympic Games, where Ghana would be making an appearance.

Fans were moved by extraordinary performances by Abrantie,who set the venue on fire with his stagecraft and unique style of delivery.

Amakye Dede aka Serious Man, was at his best. He sent fans into  a frenzy when he performed some of his chart toppers. A number of music fans who could not recognize him until he was introduced as the Iron Boy started screaming, calling him ‘Abrantie the buffalo soldier’.

When he took to the stage, Abrantie Amakye Dede needed no introduction since the crowd was familiar with his music.

He threw all his skills onto the stage as he performed before business tycoons, music fans as well as people from all walks of life.

Everyone was simply in tune with his decades-old household songs, and they naturally tapped their feet to them.

His great vocal versatility, dynamic movements and general stage charisma was applauded non-stop during his four-hour stage performance.

The prolific highlife musician got the crowd laughing when he treated them to some serious dance moves, leaving them wanting for more.

During his time on stage, Abrantie kept contact with his lively audience and kept the flame in the foyer alive as he delivered most of his soothing danceable songs. He had the ladies virtually eating out of his hand as his melodious tunes brought joy to the most saddened heart.

The night was indeed one that will be remembered for a very long time.

Backed by his own bandsmen, Amakye Dede’s performance was without doubt the most thrilling when compared to others.

Amakye Dede told BEATWAVES in a chat that he was grateful that music fans at the event were satisfied with his stage performance.

‘I did my best to satisfy music fans at the show. I was shocked when fans were on their feet dancing to show appreciation to my stage performance’, he said.

The event also witnessed performances by Kwaisey Pee and Lee Duodu, who also thrilled fans with their hit songs.

Kwaisey Pee took his fans on a journey into the recent past, entertaining them with a good number of his hit songs.

He sang and danced as he worked the crowd into a frenzy. Another impressive personality during the concert was Lee Duodu, who turned up with an exciting performance.

Lee also charmed patrons with his creative skills, stagecraft and style of performance. Apart from exhibiting his usual vocal abilities and dancing skills, he got the entire audience singing along.
