X Factor’s Aiden Grimshaw debuts first single

X Factor contestant Aiden Grimshaw may have taken his time to debut his first single – but we reckon it was well worth waiting for.

The singer appeared on X Factor back in 2010 along with winner Matt Cardle, One Direction, Cher Lloyd and Rebecca Ferguson.

But while each of his fellow contestants has released music in the past two and a half years, Aiden Grimshaw has taken his time before releasing his debut single.

The 20-year-old, who wowed us with his haunting voice and shy mannerisms back when he was mentored by Dannii Minogue on ITV1 show X Factor, premiered his new single on Nylon magazine website today.

The song, which is titled ‘This Is Love’, is exactly what we wanted Aiden to create when we cheered him on back when he was voted off the show in favour of Katie Waissel.

A mix of pulsing dance beats and his intoxicating vocals, we’re already playing the debut single on repeat and reckon the tune – released on June 3 – will be a mega hit.

And it looks like Aiden’s fans – self-named Grimlings – are just as impressed with the new single as they took to Twitter to shout about their excitement.

@Guns_andRomance tweeted: “So happy Aiden Grimshaw finally has a single out yay #IsThisLove”

@Atlanta_Jade1D added: “fml. It’s amazing! !! Can’t stop listening to it!! #IsThisLove”

#IsThisLove was trending instantly on the social networking site.

Aiden said of appearing on X Factor: “I didn’t really know what I wanted from it. I love music, and I knew I could sing, but I didn’t think I was X Factor material.”

“I’d been given this opportunity and I didn’t want to waste it. But I had no idea what sort of music was really me. Everyone else had their own ideas, but all I knew was what I didn’t want.”

Following his appearance on the reality show, Aiden moved from his hometown of Blackpool to London and set up a home studio where he spent two years writing and recording demos with various writers and producers, including Jarrad Rogers of Lana del Rey and Tinchy Stryder fame.
