2014 MUSIGA Grand Ball raises almost GHc100,000 for ageing musicians

imagesThe second edition of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Grand Ball, which came off at the Banquet Hall, State House in Accra on Friday, September 5, attracted over 73 companies and groups.

The ball was aimed at raising GH¢100,000 for the Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWEF) of MUSIGA.

A special auction by Abeiku Santana and Kwame Sefa Kayi saw Eddie Ankomah CEO of Erata Hotel buying a music collection of Amakye Dede for GH¢5,000; Charterhouse bought Daddy Lumba Collection for GH¢5,000; Oscar Yao Doe bought Koo Nimo’s Guitar at GH¢15,000.

Ernest Ofori Sarpong bought Nana Ampadu’s collection for GH¢5,000; Godfred Kumodzi, purchased Daddy Lumba Collections for GH¢5,000; and Derrick Danso Afriyie bought Kojo Antwi Collection at GH¢5,000.

Sales from this auction will go into AMWEF.

Friday’s ball witnessed exciting performances from Noble Nketsiah, Tagoe Sisters, No Tribe, A.B. Crentsil, Smart Nkansah, Kwabena Kwabena, Osei Vasco, Nana Ampadu, K.K. Yeboah, Kofi Sammy, Papa Yankson, Paulina Oduro and Amakye Dede.

Special awards – Music Industry Pillar Awards were presented to Dr. (Mrs) Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Dr. Osei Kwame Despite and Midland Savings and Loans Ltd for their contributions to the development of the music industry.
