Government Endorses Ghana Meets Nigeria

The government has endorsed and pledged full support for the second edition of the Ghana Meets Naija concert scheduled to come off June 30 at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre.

The annual concert, the brainchild of Empire Entertainment which is owned by Kwabena Anokye Adisi, aka Bola Ray, is the only platform that taps into Ghana and Nigeria’s talents and rivalry to foster unity through the magic of music.

Speaking at the launch of this year’s concert at the Golden Tulip hotel, Deputy Minister for Information, James Agyenim Boateng, who was a special guest of honour expressed government’s delight and support for the initiative.

He congratulated “Bola Ray, Empire Entertainment as well as everybody who is part of this team in helping put this event together.”

According to him, “the two countries, Ghana and Nigeria, we have a common history and wherever you find Ghanaians and you see Nigerians they are the best of friends even though we are separated by [two or so] countries in between.”

The concert, the Minister noted, “is a further demonstration of the close relationship that exists between our two countries and our two people and I think that, this is an enterprise worth receiving, this is a good endeavour and Empire Entertainment and Bola Ray as well as his team deserve applauds for putting together a beautiful [show].”

“Programmes like this [Ghana Meets Naija],” he said, “… brings renewal and revival to our entertainment industry, to our night life …” emphasizing the government’s commitment to the creative art industry of which the entertainment industry is a part.

The government last year committed an amount of GH¢2million to the development and improvement of the creative art industry. To him, we are one people regardless of where we are, adding, such closer collaborations are very much cherished.

“As a government, this programme is fully endorsed; we will do our bit by providing security, by supporting it and making sure we see a very successful Ghana Meets Naija event,” James Agyenim Boateng assured.

Some seasoned acts form Ghana and Nigeria will lock horns at the second edition of the concert. The sexy Tiwa Savage, Davido of Dami Duro fame, Brymo of Ara fame, M.I., amongst others will hold the Nigerian flag come June 30.

While Guru of Lapaz Toyota fame, Kwaw Kese, Buk Bak, Kaaki, Tiffany and more make up the impressive list of today’s mega hits makers who keep filling dance halls and the airwaves in Ghana. Major support for a great concert Government endorses Ghana, Nigeria showdown.

Some of the country’s major and leading brands have thrown their weight behind the concert stating the show is worth supporting because of its unique concept and attributes.

The country’s leading telecommunications provider, MTN, which has been at the forefront of supporting entertainment in Ghana is a headline sponsor of the concert.

Another firebrand, rlg Communications which has over the years shown that Ghanaian companies with determination can flourish is also a headline sponsor. The company is the country’s leading mobile phone and computer assembling firm.

Other notable supporting outfits for the event dubbed the country’s biggest concert are Hennessy, Moet Et Chandon and the Golden Tulip Hotel.
