Koby Maxwell soon to explode on a national and international scale, is a gifted bass player, singer, lyricist, and composer brings a unique music mix blended with a taste of Europe, a twist of America and a infusing of Africa that creates a colorful, cross-cultural powerful sound of fusion.
The oldest of 6 children, this native-born Ghanaian is no foreigner to the United States. Since arriving in America, Koby’s God given musical gift has seen him perform at some of the world’s most prominent music centers, such as the Kennedy Center in the nations capital and the Radio City Music Hall in the Big Apple, New York City.
He has shared the stage with music legends Nancy Wilson, Chaka Khan and Dionne Warwick. In August 2006, he performed at Reggae on the River, and shared the stage with reggae music icon’s Sean Paul, Barrington Levy, Sanchez, Ziggy and Stephen Marley, Bunny Wailer and the Father of Afrikan music, Salif Keita, among many other recognized artists.
Although Koby, is a humble individual, his accolades speak for him. Most recently, gaining additional recognition as a key performer in Detroit’s 21st African World festival. Despite all of this and more, Koby’s determination to remain true to himself and his country as an artist is noteworthy and also commendable.
“Other countries have kept the authenticity of their music. My goal is to continue to maintain the authenticity of African music, but still incorporate the sounds of others.”
And when it comes incorporating, Koby has that skill down pat. Koby’s distinguished sound of fusion has enabled him to diversify his performances for audiences around the world – from charity groups in America, to Churches in Europe, Jazz Festivals in the Bahamas and Ghanaian stages for celebrities.

His versatility as an artist is vividly displayed in his first Gosel CD entitled: ‘Praise the Lord’ and the second album, ‘Pepele’ fame, flying with the Lord.
Currently, Koby is working on the completion of his most current project, an AP, Hip-life, hi-life Coupe de’ kala album called ‘Step to the top’. This album is packed wick with a collection of songs, a music video, interviews and behind the scene segments of making the video as well as an exclusive photos slide show. For his fans, this is one highly anticipated project.
Some of the song titles on the CD are ‘Abeeba’, ‘Befo me plane’, ‘I’m Aware’, Awuraba’ and more. The highly anticipated project which was directed by the sister of Bill Cosby were shot at the Zanzibar on the waterfront in downtown Washington DC, Washington Dulles Airport and Potomac, Maryland.

Also watch out for his latest movie “PAPARAZZI Eye in The Dark“ premiere in a state near you… With a career as bright as his smile, and as certain as his warm personality, Koby Maxwell is sure to only go farther and accomplish more. His plan for his next CD is to do a little more incorporating of different music styles so that he can better reach his larger fan base in Europe and America, respectively.
