Irene Logan Is A Liberian

Singer Irene Logan yesterday, Thursday February 16, added a year to her life and she celebrated the day with joy, praises and thanks to God for bringing her this far.

“Thank you Lord for another year to my life, I’m grateful…I’m humbled,” she said yesterday. Her age has not been confirmed but she still in her 20s, NEWS-ONE gathered. She has since received a lot of congratulatory messages from players and pals in Ghana’s entertainment industry as well as her fans.

Her birthday followed that of John Dumelo’, Roselyn Ngissah’s and Promzy’s: They all celebrated their birthdays early this month.“Happy birthday Irene Logan…true voice of an angel,” was the message top Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson wrote on blackberry.

Efya, former member of Irene and Jane duo, also posted on Blackberry, “Happy birthday Irene, bless you baby! Love you plenty.”Irene is Liberian-born-Ghanaian singer and she is known for her vocal strength and maturity.

Though Irene has lived most of her life in Ghana, she is a Liberian. She was born to Liberian parents.Her father and brother died when she was young. Upon moving to Ghana, her mother got married to a Ghanaian.

Irene Logan grew up surrounded by music, her step-dad, a guitarist and singer, while her mother sang professionally too. She had her first go at a microphone at age 3. At age 5, she performed at the National Theatre with the Christian Action Faith Ministry. It was a gospel rock show where they sang ‘People need the Lord’.

By the time she was in Achimota School (before that John Teye Memorial and en route to Zenith College) studying music, literature and history, she was a choir leader.She went on to perform at various places, including weddings, churches, and even Miss Teen Personality 2002.

She also won an opera singing competition and a song-writing competition for a Fanta song she composed with some friends.She was part of a group called S-Touch which also featured Salimi Akill, Richie, Ferguson and Selassie Hanson. Later, she became part of the duo Irene and Jane who were discovered through Charterhouse’s Stars of the Future pop contest where Irene emerged the winner. Efya, then known as Jane, placed third.

They blended their talents and had thrilling experiences working together after spending most of their lives as solo artistes.

Not long ago, they decided to go their separate ways, which gave people reasons to think that there was something wrong between them. But they both denied it and have since been keeping a nice relationship in the public eye.
