Socrate Sarfo Sacked!

312494362_305567Renowned Ghanaian movie producer Socrates Sarfo was actually sacked as spokesperson for the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) though it was made to look like he was simply asked to ‘step aside’.

Since the ‘Hot Fork’ movie producer was appointed by the new FIPAG boss, Asare Hackman, as his personal spokesperson, there had been a lot of tension and noise over his appointment.

According to one of the executives who spoke to NEWS-ONE, Socrates’ position as spokesperson for Mr. Hackman would conflict with the duties of the Association’s Public Relations Officer (PRO).

“We are not against the Socrates appointment; it is just that sometimes in discharging his duties as spokesperson for our president, he ends up performing the tasks of our PRO. There have been several occasions where the PRO goes to places to do his work in the name of FIPAG and he is told that Socrates has been there to do similar things,” the executive complained to NEWS-ONE.

Insiders said Socrates’ dismissal was not an easy decision but upon several closed door meetings with the executives, Mr. Hackman had to agree on it.

Meanwhile, Socrates who has been a pillar in the Ghanaian movie industry, has earlier stated emphatically on a local radio station that he only speaks for the president of FIPAG and not the association.

His production house was responsible for ‘What Sex Can Do’ and ‘Hot Fork’ among some other award winning movies. He is currently putting together a new television series called ‘The Game’ which sources say will be telecast solely on UTV.
