The Ghana Theatre Festival Starts Today With Poetry, Orchestra and Dance

The Ghana Theatre festival is been organised this weekend which starts today with poetry from Oswald Okaitei, Music from National Symphony Orchestra and the Ghana dance company. It will be held at the national theatre today at 7; 00pm prompt. The festival starts from today12th October to 18th October. This event is being organized by the National Theatre of Ghana with support from the government of Ghana and other key industry players.

Today’s event is a classical one which will begin with poetry from one Ghana’s finest Oswald Okaitei. The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) is a sub vented public service agency established by Philip Gbeho by the order of the first president in 1959. The main objective of the NSO was to promote, project and preserve African art Music both locally and internationally. The orchestra was also to promote Music education in Ghana. National Dance Company was established in 1962 as the Ghana Dance company ensemble at the institute of African Studies, University Of Ghana, as a result of the first president of the Republic Of Ghana’s love for art.
