Wiyaala Sweeps Six Nominations At VGMA

Noella Wiyaala has been nominated in five categories of the Vodafone Ghana Music awards. Noella is popularly known for her hit single “make me dance”. She is a song writer and has a male female looking image that is androgynous.
Wiyaala was born in Wa, Upper West Ghana as one of four sisters and raised in Tumu. She got first singing lessons from her mother, a choir singer, and she has performed ever since she was 5 years old. Her surname, which she picked for a stage name, means “the doer” in her native Sisaala language. During her late teenage years she played football as a midfielder she has attended Takoradi Polytechnic on an art and design course. During Ghana’s world cup she released a song which won her an award during the sports excellence awards last year.
She won the 2012 Vodafone ICONS Mixed Edition contest as part of the Ghanaian band Black N Peach, while singing Tina Turner’s “Simply The Best” She left the Black N Peach band during April 2013 to pursue a solo career with Djimba World Records.
Wiyaala is a brand ambassador for PepsiCo in West Africa, alongside Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage, promoting Pepsi throughout Ghana as the brand looks to grab a larger share of the soft drinks market She is also the Converse All Stars ambassador for Ghana since 2014. She is also a model for Printex Ghana producers of African print material.
Ever since her solo she has worn awards and gained recognition in Ghana and the African continent at large. Wiyaala won an award at the 2014 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).During Ghana’s world cup she released a song which won her an award during the sports excellence awards last year.Getting 6 nominations is an applause to her and must be commended. She is advocate for the women in the three northern regions. She believes in Feminism and is against early marriages in those regions.
