Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings To Set Up A Music And Dance School+Video

In spite of the shaky election aftermath and the political nervousness presently in , Mrs. Rawlings decided as always to relax some music and quality drama at the just ended “Versatile Show” concert last Friday December 14, 2012 at the National Theatre.

Former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana and founder of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings speaking to the media at the event disclosed that she is putting in a lot of work to start her music and dance school, in fulfillment of a long-held dream.

“I am crazy about music and I even want to start music and dance school,” she said. “I've being planning this since I was like thirty years… It's been my dream and I still think I should manifest it…” she adds.

Mrs. Rawlings told reporters she's been toying with the idea of setting up a music and dance school for years, adding that she feels inspired to implement it very soon.

Nana Konadu, so far the funkiest first lady also expressed her love for Ghanaian arts and entertainment and how it can help to develop a nation, adding that she listens and follow what the young musicians are doing currently and the kind of music they produce.

Mrs. Rawlings further revealed that she sometimes suggests and advice some musicians as to kind of words they use in their music. “I think that the arts, drama and music help a country to develop a certain way” she stressed.

Her announcement doesn't come as a surprise to most industry players, given her public display of love for the arts. A constant face at major arts and entertainment-related events held in the Capital over the past year, Mrs. Rawlings is convinced the time to give Ghana's arts and entertainment industry the needed push and face lift, is now.

Her taking up this initiative, is laudable and must be commended. If fulfilled, it will be a positive development for Ghana's growing creative arts.
