2015 VGMAs: Stonebwoy wins ‘Artiste of the Year’ – Hitz FM Poll
Ghanaians are eager and expectant as the winner of the Artiste of the Year is about to be unveiled Saturday night at the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
The winner, who will for year hold the bragging rights as the nation’s best musician, will be unveiled at the main awards at Accra International Conference Center (AICC).
While many have their favourites in a keenly contested pool of artistes – Daddy Lumba, Guru, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Edem, MzVee and Samini – Hitz FM’s listeners seem to have settled on one.
In a poll conducted by Ghana’s favourite entertainment station, listeners believe Afropop, dancehall and reggae artiste, Livingstone Etse Satekla, known on stage as Stonebwoy, deserves the Artiste of the Year award.
The poll was conducted on Showbiz Today on Hitz FM and was based on phone calls, text messages, WhatsAppp messages, Facebook and twitter responses to the question: “Who wins Artiste of the Year?”.
Stonebwoy polled 60% of votes thus being adjudged by Hitz FM listeners as their preferred choice for Artiste of the Year.

Stonebwoy – 60%
Sarkodie – 20%
Daddy Lumba – 8%
Guru – 5%
Edem – 3%
MzVee – 2%
Samini – 2%
In all over 200 responses from listeners were collated.
Stonebwoy had told Mic Gizo during an interview on Showbiz Today on Hitz FM some weeks ago that he has done a lot in the year under review to win the Artiste of the Year crown.
Will the voice of the people reflect in Saturday night’s awards? We will have to wait and see.
