His Royal Smoothness to win People’s Choice Award
Hi, my name is Kwame Dadzie aka *His Royal Smoothness. I loved radio/TV from infancy and had always wanted to be either a radio or TV presenter.
In school, I also loved writing. Writing was inherent but even though I could write well and won writing competitions for my schools, it was all about being a broadcaster. I never dreamt of writing for any newspaper.
Then I started writing letters to ”Children's Corner” on Radio Gold so at least my voice could be heard on radio through my pen. And I remember any time hostess Beatrice Agro and her crew read my letter I was a celebrity in school.
Francis Doku's articles in Graphic Showbiz goaded me to also present my letters for publication in the ‘Letters Column.' Sometimes, they were published, other times they were either thrown in the trash can or didn't leave the Post Office to the editor's office. That started in the 2000s.
In 2009, while a producer of the Ultimate Chart Show on Sunrise FM hosted by George Ayisi, I called Samuel Baah Flex Newspaper and told him I wanted to write for his paper, Flex, and see – today I am the Deputy Editor of that paper.
Last year when I was nominated in the Radio and Television Personality Awards for the Best Presenter in the Eastern Region, most people showed me so much love.
But I am overwhelmed by the love shown me this year, not by my close ‘family and friends,' but by people from afar. People I have never met before who have taken it upon themselves to do their best to see me win the Best Entertainment Journalist Award in the maiden edition of the GN Bank People's Choice Awards.
Thanks to y'all but voting ends on 14th March, 2015. So keep texting CH Kwame Dadzie to short code 1446 on MTN, Vodafone and Airtel.
Please, it's a 100% public votes award – so vote more and let's win, because if I don't win, I will die *in Uncle Francis Doku's voice….lol
