Afenyo Markin to grab a juicy position in the 8th parliament

After a long battle for the majority in parliament, it can be said now that with the independent Fomena MP who has hinted to be aligned with the NPP caucus in parliament, the New Patriotic Party would be forming the majority in the 8th parliament.

A former broadcast journalist with Accra based Citi FM, Richard Dela Sky has revealed that the Efutu MP, Hon. Alexander Afenyo Markin would be replacing Hon. Sarah Adwoah Sarfo as the deputy Majority leader in the 8th parliament. Many sympathizers have made the case for the young MP to be made the Majority leader to motivate the youth in the party.

They argue that Afenyo Markin has been able to increase the vote margin of his constituency over the years and has a mastery over the parliamentary proceedings and the standing orders.

He wrote:

“After a steering committee meeting decision today, this is how the NPP side is likely to the lineup in the next Parliament: Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu to remain as Majority Leader. His Deputy will be Alex Afenyo-Markin of Effutu. Annoh Dompreh will be Chief Whip. Habib of Tolon will be First Deputy Chief Whip. Ophelia Hayford of Mfanstiman will come in as Second Dep Chief Whip.
