imagesAbrantie Amakye Dede's exhilarating performance at the Starr FM Corporate Launch Friday night was on the lips of all the guests as they walked away at the end of the event.

Starr FM went live on air with it test transmission on August 4, 2014 and went live with normal programming on Monday, September 8.

The launch was graced by industry tycoons, legislators, press houses and members of Corporate Ghana, and was chaired by National Media Commission boss Kabral Blay Amihere, who expressed confidence the leadership of the station's CEO Kwabena Anokye Adisi, also known as Bola Ray.

Performing at the launch was ‘The Iron Boy'. Old as he may seem, Amakye Dede showed that he has not lost his magical touch live performances.

The incomparably energetic highlife legend delivered an irrepressible and mesmerising performance that got even the most reserved of individuals among the audience up on their feet in sheer excitement.

He did not disappoint as he performed his evergreen tunes from way back and had everyone rushing to the dance floor.

The evening was anchored on the wings of the impeccably well-spoken MC, Anita Erskine.

Also in attendance was Ghanaian actor, Adjetey Sowah, who described the event as “stunning!”

According to him, the Starr team an incredible group of people who are ready to make things happen and has confidence in their ability.

Miss Ghana 2014, Nadia Ntanu, said she listens to the station and impressed with the content.

“I listen to Naa Ashorkor a lot and she always captures attention. I also listen to the other programmes anytime I get the chance. I think Bola Ray is impressive as always. The ‘Starrs' are actually stars,” she said.

Among the many Ghanaian celebrities who graced the occasion was charming Ghanaian singer Stephanie Benson, who said she is expecting the station to move away from traditional radio monotony to give Ghanaians the best in the form of variety.

The internationally-recognised diva, who is fast creating a fan base for herself in Ghana, was as expected, immaculately dressed and excited to be a part of the big launch.

She told Starr Entertainment her biggest concern is to see the Station lead in getting the country immersed in music that is educative as much as entertaining.

“I just think that Starr FM should be able to represent music from all around the world because I think that's how we () get our influence,” she said.

“I'm expecting to hear good music; I'm expecting to hear some old music as well – very old, old kind of music and the new as well. Basically, I just want to hear some broad spectrum of music so that we can learn from it.”
