Award winning Sound Engineer and Music Producer cum Musician, Appiah Dankwah, widely known as Appietus, eventually picked up his nomination form for the presidency position of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), on Wednesday 5th August, 2015.
The four year tenure of the incumbent MUSIGA President, Obour ends October 2015 and has signaled intentions for re-election. Appietus is the first to pick up a form among aspirants like Gyedu Blay Ambulley, Daasebre and others to contest Bice Osei Kuffour.
Despite speculations that the form which costs GH3, 000.00 is exorbitant, Appietus says it is a worthy cause because he deems it an investment into the music industry and he is very poised to overthrow Obour to make things right in the union. Appietus who doubles as a member of the Executive Committee and the Communication team of MUSIGA was escorted by his supporters and the press to the MUSIGA premises to pick the presidential form.
However, the music producer is not happy about the process surrounding the upcoming October elections and has made some arguments on the matter. “Now that I’ve picked the form, I’m praying for good luck. There are some laws they need to amend at MUSIGA before the election but I will attack that later, because I feel some things are not fair at the moment. Why should only 150 out of 5000 delegates be allowed to vote? It makes things really obvious. I’m still talking with the executives about it,” Appietus told flexgh.com.
Appietus has over the decade been popularly known for his ability of making hit songs. He has worked with the likes of Daddy Lumba, Kojo Antwi, Obrafuor, Ofori Amponsah, Rex Omar, Kwabena Kwabena, Okyeame Kwame, Samini, Kwaw Kese, Castro, 4×4, Wutah, Okomfour Kwaadee, Sarkodie, Becca, Bradez and many others.
