Australian High Commissioner Calls On The Deputy Gender Minister.

The High Commissioner of Australia to Ghana, HE Gregory Andrews has expressed how elated he is to have met the Deputy Minister for Gender Hon. Freda Prempeh who doubles as the MP for Tano North Constituency. According to the celebrity diplomat, the relationship between Ghana and Australia’s Gender Ministries demonstrates the importance the two countries attaches to gender and women in leadership.

The Commissioner wrote;

***It’s always great to make new friends and today I met Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Gender Hon. Freda Prempeh MP-Tano North Constituency. Ghana has made good progress in #GenderEquality. But like Australia and all countries, there is always more to achieve. We discussed the importance of women in leadership. And a point well noted by me was that Minister Prempeh always makes an effort to include the Queen Mothers as well as Chiefs when she is consulting traditional and community leaders. I do the same because excluding women would be excluding half the ideas. Inclusion is the right thing to do. But it also just makes sense.

My Minister Marise Payne is not only Australia’s Foreign Minister but also our Minister for Women. To me, that demonstrates the importance Australia attaches to gender and women in leadership.***
