While thanking the artistes for the public acknowledgment of the efforts of his administration, Governor Fashola said the administration will do more by ensuring that night life economy fully returns to Lagos.

He added that the administration has demonstrated the ability of everyone to change what they do not accept as amply demonstrated by the several changes that have taken place in Lagos such as the toga of Lagos as the dirtiest before which has today become the cleanest city in Nigeria, just as it was once branded as the most unsafe to becoming the safest city in Nigeria.

The Governor identified the restoration of hope that has enabled people to have renewed belief in themselves as the greatest achievement of the present administration.

He said now is the time for Nigerian youths to do more of what makes irrelevant the issue of where one comes from, what language he speaks or what faith he professes, but to emphasize “our common humanity to be our brothers’ keeper.”

The governor said: “As a Government we respect the rights of the citizens to associate and to express their will freely because they are guaranteed and protected in our constitution”

“Each time the rights of citizens are threatened or violated, our government has always demonstrated the capacity to lead from the front to protect the citizens especially the young”.

“That is why we have an institution like the Office of the Public Defender (OPD) which has been taking up cases of people who have their rights trampled upon, just like that of Miss Okeke who was brutalized by some men in uniform. The case was taken up for her by OPD”, the governor explained.

Speaking earlier, the spokesperson of the group, Bankole Wellington otherwise known as Banky W thanked Governor Fashola for the wonderful job he has been doing in Lagos in the past three years.

On the menace of piracy in the country, he urged the governor to assist the practitioners in the entertainment industry to put an end to it in the industry, because it is one of the issues that slow down development of the industry.
