Becca to perform at Rock in Rio

becca-jesusOne spectacular performance by Ghanaian female artiste, Becca, in Natal has given her a major break in Brazil as she is due to return to South American country in November.

The diva was in her elements exactly a week ago with a spellbinding display which took the overwhelming crowd at the Ghana fun park in downtown Natal by storm and left in its trail a host of fanatics and events organisers after the show.

Her instant reward for that great performance was an invitation to Brazil´s biggest music festival, Rock in Rio, in the Brazilian capital, Rio de Janeiro, from November 18 to 25 this year.

This was revealed to the Daily Graphic in Natal last Tuesday by Becca´s manager, Kiki Banson, who said the trip to Brazil had opened a major door for Ghana music in general.

He said Becca´s performance, which was the last of a three-day entertainment package began by Gyedu Blay Ambolley and Amandzeba, made a statement and resulted in invitations by some local radio and TV stations for interviews.

“After the show, it was amazing how a huge number of Brazilian fans formed a long queue seeking to take photographs with Becca or ask for autographs,” Kiki recalled with relish.

In an interview, Rebecca Acheampong, as Becca is originally called, said she was humbled by the experience and thrilled by the response of the local fans despite not understanding the lyrics of her songs.

Having tasted two gigs already on and Tuesday night at an events centre in Natal as a dress rehearsal for the November event, which attracts across the world, Becca feels on top of the world and cannot wait for that big opportunity.

According to her, seeing the way the audience were swept off their feet by her performance and how the Brazilians especially danced to her rhythm was like receiving a present one had long been looking forward to at Christmas.

´The feeling was just amazing and I was so excited because it is great for every artiste to see the audience move along with their performance, ` an elated Becca said.

“it was such a great feeling when people saw me in town after the show and were saying ‘TV,TV', meaning they saw me on television during the interview,” she said.

As one of the ambassadors the government brought to the 2014 World Cup to promote the Ghanaian culture in Brazil, Becca thought her performance served that purpose very well.
