Blaq Out: The Talented Hiplife Artiste

Mark Kojo Quayson aka Blaq Out, who is not new on the Ghanaian music scene, appears determined to make it to the top with a good strategy to market his maiden album on the African continent.

His album, ‘Rise And Shine’ , which has a lot of good songs, is yet to be aired on some radio stations in the country.

The hiplife music star, who is seen as an inspiration, has indeed proven beyond all reasonable doubt that he has really come to stay.

The lyrics in all his songs on the album are neatly arranged with sensational and inspirational rhythms, making the album a unique one.

Blaq Out’s maiden album to be released soon has distinctive features in terms of programming, beat and style, which is a new dimension in our current hiplife dispensation.

The creativity in the composition is also commendable and it has the potential of becoming a big hit, considering how it is gaining public appeal when it was first aired in some selected night clubs.

One of the tracks, ‘ Bad Girls’ , is a mid-tempo song rendered in hiphop and hiplife beats, with a beautiful rhythm and a great treble tune to match.  The ‘Baddest Party’ song is also a wonderful piece which brings out the artiste’s superb creative skills.

Blaq Out is one of the few Ghanaian artistes who have composed songs for a lot of other musicians and also featured on so many albums. Blaq Out has worked with stars like Gifty Osei, Konfi, Sarkodie, and Guru among others.

Blaq Out has promised to run things in a different dimension with the help of his production team and management.

His album, ‘ Rise And Shine’, is a mid-tempo song often referred to as music for the masses. The fusion of good drum-beats, the sound of foot drums, base and rhythm guitar which are felt in the background make the song irresistibly danceable.

Many who have had the opportunity to listen to the songs on Blaq Out’s album acknowledge that he is a prolific singer and a songwriter. His usage of Twi and Fante is just perfect.

Blaq’s contribution to the music industry in Ghana would undoubtedly add to the rich repertoire of musical collections that the country already has.

The album, which will soon enjoy massive airplay on radio and television, is truly a good finished product for public consumption.

Opinions about the songs differ, but listening to the lyrics carefully and the kind of message he is sending to the youth, one will easily be motivated to sing along, making the songs more interesting.

Working on his maiden album is in fulfilment of a cherished dream in his musical career, which has all along been linked to hiplife music.

Currently, Blaq Out is on Issy Wizzy Entertainment label and is the only Ghanaian artiste signed on by the record label based in London.
