Breaking News: Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Wins The 2020 Presidential Election.


The December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections were tagged as the most fiercely contested General Election in the Fourth Republic of Ghana. Having had 7 successful elections since the inception of this Fourth Republic in 1993, Ghanaians were trusted to comport themselves in this year’s election.

Whilst many sitting parliamentarians have lost their bids to represent their constituents in the 8th Parliament conveyance, others managed to retain their seats.


With that of the Presidential election between the sitting president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the main opposition leader John Dramani Mahama, many projections were made all over the country by various media platforms. But, since the power to declare any person duly elected as the President of the Republic with the laid down 50% plus 1 of the valid vote cast is vested in the Electoral Commission, all and sundry had no choice than to wait for Madam Jane Mensah.

After all the ups and downs, the EC Chair has declared Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the president-elect of the Republic of Ghana from 2021 to 2024.

The summary of the declaration is as follows;

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo – 6,730,413 (51.59%) — President-Elect

John Dramani Mahama – 6,214,889 (47.36%)
