CAF suspends qualifiers in March over COVID-19 scare
The Emergency Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed this month’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers. This decision was arrived at as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic that has not spared anyone – whether a politician, footballer, etc.
A statement from CAF said it has postponed the Total African Cup Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021 Qualifiers – Matchdays 3 and 4 initially scheduled from 25th – 31st March, as well as Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Women U-20 World Cup Qualifiers which was initially scheduled from 20th to 2nd2 March and 27th to 29th March.
It added that the Total Women AFCON 2020 Qualifiers which was as well initially scheduled from 8th – 14 April 2020 has also been postponed pending a thorough assessment and other analysis to bring forth their next line of action.
The English Premier League, Serie A, and other European Leagues have all being halted over the Coronavirus pandmonium.
