Clooney, Amal blow $1.6m on wedding

People magazine report that the three-day affair, including the intimate September 27 ceremony at the Aman Canal Grande resort, cost about $1.6 million.

It seems that party filled weekend, held at several Venice locations, including the matrimonial home base, the Belmond Hotel Cipriani and on the Grand Canal, all added up. But a source revealed that reports the bill was footed by Amal’s wealthy family are false.

However, the bar tab, which usually ends up being one of the biggest expenses at weddings was eased by Rande Gerber, co-founder of Casamigos Tequila, who sent over 100 cases of the brand’s award-winning Blanco, Reposado and Añejo tequila from California for the guests to enjoy.

But with the action-filled and expensive weekend behind them, the newlyweds are now ready to rewind, relax and enjoy married life together, and have reportedly jetted off to an extravagant resort on the North Island in Seychelles for their honeymoon.

The eco-friendly resort, which can only be accessed by helicopter, holds 11 villas with private plunge pools, four beaches, and is a favourite of Hollywood royalty, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

The luxurious haven is also favoured by actual royalty, as Prince William and Kate Middleton spent their honeymoon there in 2011.

A source close to the 53-year-old actor told X17Online that the romantic trip to the remote Indian Ocean paradise was a surprise for his new wife, and he booked the trip on the recommendation of good friend, Brad Pitt.

The source revealed, “George and Amal were looking for the ultimate, private getaway and I believe it was Brad who told him to go to this resort.

“It’s one of the most beautiful places on earth and George wanted to show Amal something even more amazing than Venice. It was the only place that could top off such an elaborate wedding.”
