Cornered Thoughts: Why Do You Feel Obliged To Vote For Either NPP Or NDC And Not Others Like CPP, GUM, PPP, NDP, GFP, Etc?

Since we are not finally done with this voting whatever, we’d continually be required to blog about these politically related issues as a way of creating advocacy for a peaceful electioneering moment and other equally indispensable issues.

Ghana’s December 7 General Parliamentary and Presidential Elections would indeed go down in the historic books as one of the most competitive electioneering moment ever. Even though there are many political parties such as Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) and the rest, the election would be keenly contested between the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the main opposition party – National Democratic Congress (NDC). This isn’t the first time NPP’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and NDC’s John Dramani Mahama are facing off but this year’s own is a bit critical because both candidates would be seeking to grab their second and final tenure (4 last years). One cannot take away their millions of supporters who are warming up to campaign and vote massively for their respective parties.

But, also, most Ghanaians seem to be either tired of both NPP and NDC or just frustrated with the political system of Ghana. Critically scrutinizing many comments from social media posts, one can allude to the fact that some significant number of citizens are just fed up with the voting system and in that regard both NPP/ NDC. Some have insinuated that under both the NPP and NDC, their expectations haven’t been met and this has made many to give up already.
To such political neutrals or frustrated Ghanaians, they may not step foot at the polling station on Dec 7 because they probably see that as a total waste of time to stay in the scorching sun in order to vote for someone’s father, husband, sugar daddy or son who would end up amassing wealth alone and not thinking of any other persons apart from his or her immediate family relatives.

The question still remains as to whether as a voter you’ll find it prudent to go and queue on December 7 to vote for either NPP or NDC. Also, why don’t you try the likes of CPP, PPP, GFP, NDP, GUM, etc if you happen to be part of those fed with NPP/NDC?

What’s your take on this?
