Coronavirus is causing Government to think now -Dr. Omane Boamah
During the last COVID-19 media briefing in Ghana, the Health Minister said the Bank of Ghana Hospital would now be used as a treatment for VIP COVID-19 patients. After realizing the statement was an insensitive one, he quickly added that everyone is a VIP in the current situation we find ourselves in.
This has caused the former Minister for Communications under the erstwhile Mahama government, Dr.Edward Omane Boamah to issue a response to the health minister.
According to him, the government shouldn’t have allowed the facility to be wasted for so many years because of politics.

Finally, COVID-19 has caused the use of the Bank Hospital. As for telling Ghanaians everyone is a VIP, the response can be found on the streets and at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
On the streets, VIPs use sirens and at KIA, VIPs and VVIPs travel through their designated segments. The government must respect the intelligence of Ghanaians, simple.
Furthermore, if all “Ghanaians were VIPs” then why make that distinction in the first place?
Why waste the bank hospital for years?
Why waste the University of Ghana Medical Centre until citizens began agitating?
Why leave several hospital projects to rot across the country just because of partisan politics?
Coronavirus has provoked the conscience of those who neglected these health projects. May they strive to do better going forward. And may we improve on our health system and make it resilient to serve the needs of all Ghanaians.
