Creative industry deserves no recognition from Mahama – A-Plus

imagesControversial rapper A-Plus, known in real life as Kwame Asare Obeng, says the creative industry has done little or nothing to receive any form of recognition by the president.

According to A-Plus, the industry cannot be taken serious because the industry players are themselves not serious.

Described as unimportant and worthless industry by some critics, A-Plus had little compliments for the industry he is part of.

He told Ibrahim Ben-Bako on Hitz FM he was not surprised President John Mahama failed to mention the creative industry in his 2015 State of the Nation address last Thursday.

A-Plus said, “There are just too many issues that must be solved before we think of what the president is going to say. What is the president going say? That he is going to give us money? What did we do with the first one he gave us? I don’t even know what you expect him to say”.

He said the president was talking about important things and that “We are one of the groups in Ghana that has been allocated plenty money, but I don’t know what that money has been used for, I don’t know what it has done for the industry, and I don’t know what we expect the president to come and say again”.

Asked what could be done to make the industry more serious, A-Plus said, “Everybody who has a say in our creative act industry must get serious. We are fighting COSGA, we are fighting MUSIGA. I think that it’s time we come together and work together to achieve a common goal and then we can present ourselves to the big people and say this is us, this is what we are looking out for but as for this ‘Kpakpakpa’ things we are doing we can’t expect the president to say anything”.
