Daddy Lumba, Patoranking for VGMA today
Celebrated highlife singer, Daddy Lumba, will lead the pack of Ghanaian artistes billed to perform at the Accra International Conference Centre at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards scheduled for today.
The event is expected to be ignited with performances from a star – studded line up of artistes from Ghana and Nigeria. Those billed to join Daddy Lumba to excite patrons include Stonebwoy, Wiyaala, Edem and gospel group, No Tribe.
Nigerian artistes, Patoranking and Yemi Alade are also set to perform as well.
Popular for songs such as Obi Ate Meso Bo, Sika Asem, Odo Foforo, Biribi Gyegye Wo, Back For Good, Aben Wo Ha, his recent hit song, Ye Nea Wo Ho Beto Wo (Yentie Obiaa), Daddy Lumba’s music attracts both the young and old and he is expected to delight his many fans when he hits the stage tonight.
Nigerian dancehall artiste, Patoranking, undoubtedly won the hearts of many music lovers here with his song, Girlie O, which featured Tiwa Savage.
He was scheduled to perform last March at the Ghana Music Week celebration but he could not make it due to “technical hitches”.
Also at the event, last year’s winner of the Vodafone Icons music talent hunt, Chris, will officially unveil his debut single, Otega, which features Sonnie Badu.
In an interview with the Daily Graphic yesterday, Head Of communications for Charterhouse, George Quaye, said that his outfit had put in place measures to make this year’s show a memorable one.
Since its inception in 2000, the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards has served as the platform to honour deserving artistes and other stakeholders in the music industry for their works in the year under review.
This year’s VGMA which is on the theme, “Music’s Biggest Nite, Ignited by Passion Powered by 25 Million Fans, has Daddy Lumba, Stonebwoy, Guru, Edem, MzVee, Sarkodie and Samini in contention for the covetous title of the Artiste of the Year award.
