When Dance hall as a music genre is mentioned in Ghana, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., aka Shatta Wale and Livingstone Etse Satekla aka Stonebowy come to mind. The duo may seem inseparable when recipients of dancehall accolades are compiled.
Shatta Wale’s Shatta Movement for life (SM4Lyf) fans and Stonebwoy’s By His Imperial Majesty (BHIM) fans are always at each other’s throat as to who is the Champion or King when the Dancehall genre is under discussion.
Infant radio station based in Accra, Asaase Radio organized a Facebook poll in which 9,000 voters partook. The poll sought to inquire who the Dancehall King is between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy. For over some notable hours, the poll finally came to an end with 4,500 votes for Shatta Wale (representing 50% of the total valid vote cast) and Stonebwoy also garnered 4,500 (representing 50% as well).
