Danny Nettey to be celebrated @ Evolution 7 Concert

Danny Nettey, one of the country’s finest gospel acts will be celebrated and honoured at this year’s Evolution 7 Concert scheduled to come off at the National Theatre Sunday.

The inspiration singer will be honoured for being a pioneering voice for the establishment, development and growth of contemporary urban gospel music in Ghana.

The annual Evolution concert is an Impact Project Ministry initiative and this year’s event is dubbed Shalom GH. Last year’s show was one of only six gospel music events in Africa to have been nominated for Africa Gospel Music event of the year 2011 at the prestigious annual Africa Gospel Music Awards staged in London.

Organisers of the concert have said in a press statement that “With a vocal timbre that has wowed audiences in Ghana and the world over, Danny Nettey’s constancy to bring excellence to what he does for the Lord has made him a staple of the Ghanaian Gospel music scene. His music expression cuts across various genres and has been exhibited since his debut.”

Danny Nettey released his solo debut album Positive Change in 1995 following it with his second This Time With The Pals in 1996.

Danny has over the past decade traveled extensively throughout Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

He has been featured on the same bill with several Internationally Renowned Gospel Artistes and Pastors such as Ron Kenoly, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Bebe Winans, Kirk Franklin, Israel Houghton, Don Moen and Alvin Slaughter.

Danny currently hosts a Sunday afternoon gospel music show, Worship Zone, on Joy 99.7 FM.

Headlining this year’s concert is Nigerian international gospel act, Michael Kome. Other seasoned artistes joined the mega concert include the ever-green Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Calvis Hammond, Glenn Barnes and the energetic and anointed Pastor David.

This year’s concert, according to organizers, “is dedicated to supporting Ghana Peace 2012 and is designed to serve both as an advocacy and spiritual platform to promote and inspire the country, especially, the youth towards a peaceful and successful General Election, come December 2012. We believe that without peace even the freedom to worship is not guaranteed.”

Previous editions of Evolution concerts have hosted some of the Ghana’s heavy-weight gospel acts including Soul Winners, Bernice Offei, Nii Okai, Helen Yawson, Koda & Anointed, Cynthia (Daughters of Glorious Jesus), Joe Mettle, Ike Nanor, Cwasi Oteng, Eugene Zuta, Pastor David, Calvis Hammond and Terriz of Kings Jubilee.

The high point of this year’s event is the group launch of a National Peace song which will be used to impact the message of peace into Ghanaians.
