Demonstration against GHAMRO elections
George William Dickson of musicians and dancers association and other groups will demonstrate against Ghana musician rights association (GHAMRO). This is in line with the upcoming GHAMRO elections. Their arguments is that GHAMRP is not following the procedures in line to the company code of Ghana.
According to their representative George, GHAMRO needs an executive board to legally organize elections. The group doesn’t have directors therefore elections can’t be held. The case is still in court and the elections was a sanction by the presiding judge but they are also arguing that GHAMRO was mandated to elect substantive directors not to have elections. Their arguments is that members have to meet and elect directors before having elections.
This demonstration is in collaboration with stake holders like musicians and dancers association of Ghana, national association of Ghana music producers, veteran music association of Ghana, professional musician association of Ghana, recording producers and publishers association of Ghana, association of music rights of Ghana and music council of Ghana. Musicians union of Ghana(MUSIGA) is not part of this demonstration even though they were involved in this from the beginning.
They have attained permission from the police and the demonstration will be on Thursday 27th November in Accra.it will start from Obra spot through to Kwame Nkrumah Avenue to Farrar avenue, farisco travel and tours TUC to National Theatre to high street and finally to hearts of oak park. They will present petitions to all the authorities involved in this case.
