Dery stops Anas’ corruption video premiere in Kumasi

imagesThe much anticipated premiere of the judicial scandal video in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi has been cancelled, Starrfmonline.com can confirm.

This comes after embattled High Court judge Paul Uuter Dery filed an injunction to stop Anas’ firm Tiger Eye PI, EIB Network’s Ultimate 106.9FM, and the Golden Tulip Hotels (Kumasi) from screening the video exposing him and others taking bribes to influence cases.

The ‘Ghana in the Eyes of God’ documentary was expected to show Friday evening at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Kumasi after a successful premiering in Accra last week. It was scheduled for 4pm with another show at 8pm same day.

But in a Facebook post, undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas who spent two years to unearth corruption in Ghana’s judiciary explained that they have been served with a writ in Kumasi seeking to injunct them from screening the video in the Garden City.

“We have just been served with a writ here in Kumasi seeking to injunct us from the Ashanti Regional screening of “Ghana in the Eyes of God.

“I want to tell the great people of Kumasi that I am terribly sorry for this development. I will urge all all of you who have travelled from far and near for this eventful night here In the Garden city to remain calm, we are putting measures in place for another day. Sorry for any inconvenience once more. Let’s all join hands in enhancing our democracy. Thank you,” Anas wrote on his Facebook wall.
