Dilemma of our culture – Kwaw Kese
It so happen that Kwaw Kwase the “Abodam” celebrity who unofficially managed to legalize madness through his songs, found himself caught by the law for smoking weed. Suddenly from the main stream musicians and some renowned leaders started showing concerns, with some of them accusing the police for unlawfully arresting “Abodam”.
The concerns did not matter much until a well know politician – name withheld – decided to call for legalization of weed. It’s not clear if this politician smokes weed – for that matter his actions – or intends to smoke weed in the future, yet his action seems more of a cheap publicity stand.
Pardon my ignorance; is there any law preventing weed smoking? If there is, why are people calling for the release of Kwaw Kese for breaking the law? Shouldn’t we allow the law to take it cause for that matter?
The culture of prominent men and women in society standing in for wrongful doers should be abolished. Once a child reaches adulthood, as stated biblically “As a child I behave like a child, now an adult I do as adults”, so should anyone over the legal age be treated. In fact, what is the legal age for adulthood in Ghana? If there is, wouldn’t Kwaw Kese be over that age limit?
Is it not possible the youth behave irresponsibly because these elders in the society will always be available to consult for mediation?
