Following their outstanding performance in the Ghanaian showbiz industry, DJ Black of Joy Fm has been tipped to win Best African DJ at the much awaited maiden edition of African Global DJ Awards scheduled for South Africa in May, this year.
DJ Black, who is the host of the Open House Party on Joy Fm has been nominated for Best African DJ category. Mr Black, as he is affectionately called by his friends and fans, also got nominations in the Best Western African DJ and Best Radio DJ.
DJ Black recently won the Best Ghana DJ of the Year at the maiden Ghana DJ Awards held in Accra. Another well known DJ, DJ Mensah, who has carved a niche for himself as one of Ghana’s enterprising DJs has also been nominated for Artiste/Band DJ of the Year.
DJ Mensah also won the Artiste DJ of the Year award at the Ghana DJs awards and has been widely praised for his performance at the Sunyani rocks concert.
He has performed on many international platforms as official Disc Jockey of BET award winner Sarkodie, and also in his personal capacity as an entertainer around the world.
Peace FM’s Billy Oceans has been nominated for the “Best TV DJ”, whiles Mic Smith, Killer Fingers, Ronnie, Kess and Abrantee earned nominations in various categories.
The African Global DJ Awards is aimed at recognizing and celebrating the talent of Africa’s greatest DJs. This event, according to organizers Stronghold Entertainment and Statsmedia Group, will be held annually and is the first and only African DJ awards ceremony to be held on the continent.
Top African DJs, entertainment executives, radio stations and club owners came up with the categories and compiled the final nomination list.
Voting for the awards starts March 15, 2013, and winners will be announced at the main event on May 4, 2013, at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa.
