‘DNA’ crashes out of GLO X Factor .. Seven finalists, including two Ghanaians, prevail!

301654148_993968The highly fancied Nigerian set of twin singers ‘DNA, became the latest casualty in the Glo X Factor over the weekend when they failed to plough in the requisite number of votes to retain them in Africa’s biggest singing realty show.

The seventeen year old ‘DNA’ twins, Blair and Clinton Roberts, entered the show from the Abuja auditioning with a strong showing and were described by many as another ‘P’ Square in the making. They stormed through the various stages of screening and auditioning with admirable flair but over the weekend, fell short of winning the hearts to the panel of judges at the eviction show in Lagos.

With the exit of DNA, seven survivors, including two Ghanaian acts – soloist Eshum and the singing trio Symphony – are now pitched against one another in a highly anticipated third eviction show come Saturday. A record-breaking prize money of US$150,000 and a juicy recording contract awaits the eventual winner of the Glo X factor.

It will be recalled that the Nigerian group, ‘Smoothboiz’ became the very first casualty of the eviction series at the expense of the Ghanaian trio, ‘Symphony’. As it happened in the case of Smoothboiz, the judges were once again confronted with a choice between DNA and Eshum , the unbeatable Ghanaian songstress.

For her performances, Eshum has been bestowed with accolades like ‘wonderful’ ‘delectable’ and ‘hard working’ by judge Onyeka and on over the weekend received rapturous cheers from the Lagos audience. Judge M.I who voted to keep Eshum in the competition insists that his choice was informed by “who honestly would make a fantastic superstar when adjudged winner of the competition…. and that is Eshum!”

Some of the studio audience who were staunch DNA fans were sad to see the duo evicted from the show. Toolz, the moderator of the show, who also seemed disappointed with the eviction of the group advised viewers and audience to always vote for their favorite contestants as it is the only way they could keep them in the competition.

The remaining seven contestants including the two Ghanaians Eshum with voting number ‘501’ and Symphony ‘508’ pleaded with their Ghanaian fans to keep the vote coming in order to keep them in the competition.
DNA’s pursuit for fame ended with the song ‘911’ by Mary J Blige and Wycleaf Jean.

Viewers can watch the Results/Eviction shows on Saturdays on Viasat at 4pm and GHone at 6:30pm. The performance shows airs every Sunday on Viasat at 8pm and every Monday on GHone at 7pm.

Fans and the Public can vote by texting the ‘voting number’ of their favorite contestants to short code 1739 and ‘33680’ from Nigeria.
