Don’t take things ‘personal’ – Shatta Wale to Charterhouse

imagesDancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr, has admonished Charterhouse not to take things ‘too personal’ following their ongoing court case.

In an interview on the Citi FM’s Traffic Avenue with Jessica Opare Saforo, the Shatta Movement kingpin explained that his decision to release a series of videos on Charterhouse was not borne out of any malice but a need to get them to do the right things to promote the growth of the showbiz industry in Ghana.

“Charterhouse is a mother company that we look up to for the Ghana music awards.”

He added that “we are all in this world under one person’s watch, that is God” stressing that he “needed to send the message to the world” because the real meaning of what he did was “positivity, it wasn’t disrespect. It was something that I was telling them we don’t like it. When I say we I mean Ghanaian musicians don’t like it. I don’t think Citi FM will go like let’s ban Shatta Wale’s music while MUSIGA is taking royalties.”

Charterhouse and its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Iyiola Ayoade, dragged Shatta Wale to court on October 2, 2014 for defamation and are seeking GHC 10 million in damages among other things.
