Drama At Okyeame Kwame’s Versatile Show In Limbo

Okyeame Kwame has promised a lot for his upcoming one man Versatile Show which comes off at the National Theatre in December but is the theatre part promised in limbo?

The Show seeks to combine Music, Dance and Theatre on one stage but only last week the Production Manager of Roverman Production, Effie, who is handling the Theatre part of the Show flew out to Australia to attend to some emergency issues.

Since it was not made known when Effie is returning, organizers were quick to clarify that true to their promise, the theatre bit is being worked on with the indefatigable crew who work with James Ebo Whyte, a renowned playwright and CEO of the Roverman Production Company.

Although sad, Okyeame Kwame who is used to Effie said he was in good hands with RovermanProductions. This was revealed on the third edition of the Versatile Show Countdown program which gives viewers insight into what is happening behind the scenes with Okyeame Kwame and the show in general.

Final thirty dancers who made the cut out of the total of a hundred and fifty were shown taking their turns in rehearsals with dance choreographers for the event, Antonio and Nii Tete Yartey. Viewers were also taken through rehearsals at Musigha where Vera, Kesse and Zapp Mallet stopped by to play their parts.

Zapp Mallet, a renowned sound engineer, who is the technical director, is acting as a consultant for the event so they get it right with their sound. After his session, Zapp remarked that, “he is confident with the array of talents on display and with the sounds the ex-megastar band is playing, it promises a good show.”

For Kesse who featured Okyeame Kwame’s radio favorite of many; ‘Sika’ track, he was elated to have had the experience of working with Kwame and he deems it an achievement to be part of the event in December.

Vera of D3 fame was beside herself with joy by the compliments of Zapp Mallet. Just after her session, Zapp told the budding artiste he was impressed with her talents but advised she works hard at building her capacity seeing as she is a young lady.

“I am grateful for the support and encouragements I am getting from being part of this show. Eagerness is eating me running to the Event night so I can share my talents with the audience “, the singer who featured on ‘Don’t Judge Me’ with Okyeame Kwame on the Versatile Show
album intimated.

For most tv followers of the Countdown series who tweeted and wrote on Okyeame Kwame’s Facebook wall, it was very unusual to have seen him bath his son and readied him for school on camera in the reality series.

Another point in the series which caught lots of attention was when the rap doctor confessed on camera that his wife keeps his money and gives him house-keeping money or ‘chop money’ every morning as it called in Ghana. Has Okyeame Kwame just broken the rules or is he a
modern man? More to be unraveled as the story continues…

The Versatile Show Countdown reality series airs on GH One this and every Sunday at 3pm with a repeat on Monday at 8pm. Okyeame Kwame Versatile Show is sponsored by MTN, Fiesta Condoms, Roverman Productions, AheadMedia and Tecno.
