Dumsor vigil spot on, crisis killing movie industry – Mercy Asiedu

imagesKumawood actress, Mercy Asiedu has revealed that the local movie industry has started sinking as a result of the persistent power fluctuations.

“Producers have stopped producing many new movies of late…they are not working [because] prospective buyers do not patronize the movies all due to the lack of lights to even watch when they buy…,” she said in interview with Adom News’ Kwaku Adu-Kumi.

Several persons in the arts and entertainment industry including rapper Sarkodie and actresses, Yvonne Nelson and Lydia Forson have in recent times complained of the effects of the power crisis.

While Yvonne claimed the President has continuously been lying to the Ghanaian public on the issue, Lydia Forson on the hand believes the President was always acting as a school kid who always had his answers wrong.

Not happy with this description given the first gentleman of the land by the female celebrities, a former aide of the Chief of Staff and an NDC communication team member, Alhaji Halidu Haruna took to facebook to describe the local celebrities as ‘prostitutes’. He has since apologized.

But this did not prevent the celebrities from taking the #Dumsormuststop campaign further with the latest being the declaration of the holding of a vigil on May 16 to practically register their displeasure.

The vigil, the local movie actress said was spot on as the ‘power crises is affecting everyone in the country.’
