The run-up to the December 2020 Election has been very hot since there are a lot of ups and downs from all political divides. As of now, Ghana’s Electoral Commission has for the third time been sued at an Accra High Court for its attempt to compile a new voters register.
The new legal action is from the Ashaiman Member of Parliament, Ernest Nogbey who is praying the High court to rule that the EC does not have the mandate to compile a new register. Also, he wants the competent court of jurisdiction to rule that the current voters register until revoked by a law passed by parliament, is the only register that can be used for the conduct of the 2020 election.
There are two earlier cases are slated to be heard by the Supreme court on Wednesday, June 24, and the new case filed by the legislator is due at the High Court on Monday, June 29.
