The artiste who says he released the song together with his ‘Yen kor Nkoa’ album in 2010 said he has performed the said song on many platforms with Edem and cannot understand why Edem would do a song with the same title, rhythm and melody.
“I have performed the song on all platforms in Ghana and on all festival trains in the Volta region with my brother Edem” he said,
Speaking to Hitz News, Eduwodzi said,” I don’t know what is going on so I called Edem about this song but he said the song is an old song, and he felt like doing it. But if it’s an old song, there is no way you can get an old song with the same words, the same title, and the same melody “.
According to Eduwodzi, he first heard about Edem’s ‘Nyedzilo’ when a radio station in the Volta Region called him to ask about it.
When Edem was contacted for his part on Hitz Fm’s ‘Showbiz Fylla’ with Amanda Jissih, he said, Eduwodzi had called him earlier complaining that he received calls from people saying he [Edem] has done a song similar to his so he [Eduwodzi] was calling to inform him [Edem] not to think he planned it.
Edem said, “He called me again to seek permission from me to grant interviews, I said, I am not part of his team I can’t decide for him”.
Edem explained further that ‘Nyedzilo Nyekpe’ is a folk’s law by the people of Northern Volta just like the popular Ewe lullaby ‘Tutugborvi’.
Asked if he copied it from Eduwodzi, he said, “no”.
He said, he recorded the said song which initially featured Pappy Kojo for lil Shaker even before he released ‘Over again’ and before he recorded ‘girl friend’ but took Pappy off and wrote another hook.
The ‘Koene’ hit maker also revealed that a promoter of an upcoming show both him and Eduwidzi have been billed for wanted to take Eduwodzi off the show when he heard the issue, but pleaded with him to keep the artiste on the show.
He said, “Eduwodzi is on the bill for the 3rd and I’m going to meet him at the show but the promoter called me and so you should know that in life that is how things work”.
