ELECTION 2020: We Didn’t Cook Any Figures – Joy FM’s Samson Anyeneni Replies NDC Foot Soldiers

THE VILE UNPROVOKED SUSTAINED ABUSE
Some NDC supporters insist I should not do anything on my wall anymore. I post scriptures and anything but election related and they swamp my wall with vile naked insults and abuse. They insist I should support their rejection of the election results. I tell them I do not have a job to be a commentator on what they desire or anything for that matter. I elect what to comment on or not at all at anytime. They shout ‘that’s hypocrisy’ if I have not been compromised by the NPP. I don’t get the logic but I must state that I have not said anywhere that they do not have a right to resort to peaceful protests even if they do intend to sue over the election results. What I have been clear about in expressing an opinion, is that only a court can overturn the EC’s verdict. That is fact and pure law. I know the hostility emanates from the ElectionHQ projection for Nana Akufo Addo. A degree of a certain conduct (not violence and vile abuse) may be understandable for people ‘fighting’ the results of the elections. Fact is that ElectionQH didn’t generate any results but those certified by the EC. What is disturbing it that these supporters are taking a cue from some of their leaders who are attacking ElectionQH without basis. You may have heard me say that, from my experience with the ElectionHQ for five elections, the reaction may not be not new and that the template of the conduct of the political parties has never changed. Yes, NPP supporters may be worse in handling such. I recall the abuse including from a couple of its leaders and threats that forced some of us to engage expensive armed private secuirty guards after projecting for the NDC. A member of the team lives with a serious medical situation after he was almost killed covering a protest by the NPP over their loss of the 2012 elections. It was, however, commendable seeing Nana Akomea, Oboshie Sai Cofie and Elizabeth Ohene lead a six-member delegation to come on live Tv to apologise and caution supporters against violent conduct. I humbly invite leaders in the NDC to look into the report of violent attacks by their members and do something now thinking about the future. If I ask for evidence of the allegations of rigging (or a “flawed” elections as President Mahama labels it) when discussing the issue on radio, is such probe not rather intended to get NDC spokespersons to help citizens and the world appreciate their cause? I know you don’t, not in the slightest, believe in the false stuff that was spread around that the ElectionHQ had been in bed with the NPP over this matter. I have advised the team against reacting to the terrible attacks and cyber-bulling but it doesn’t seem to abate. It is the same media you attack that is providing coverage for your protests and offering you platforms to explain your issues. I personally ignore the vile attacks (which I get so often from supporters of both parties) on my wall or phone often because I don’t have the luxury of time and take the view that the stuff peddled or insults are not worth my precious time. But it takes leadership to confront and stop the conduct influenced by lies and ignorance. There is a reason I speak with pride my role in mobilising Ghanaians against extending the frigthening potential nation-wrecking NPP-NDC polarisation to local community development politics. I hope we can all vote a big “NO” against any act of violence whatever the grievance, and an even bigger “NO” against tolerating what is becoming acceptable with young people resorting to unspeakable insults and morally represensive conduct and abuse even of the elderly in society in the name of party politics. I have very good friends in the NPP and NDC and know they very worried about this sub-culture. Please show your faces and lead the way. We are capable of far better for God and Country.
