Emotional Video: Teachers Of Amedzope Basic School Kneel Down And Cry Out For Classroom In The Presence Of Their Students.
Senior member of Informed Teachers Network writes;
While other schools are busy learning comfortably in nicely built classrooms, pupils and teachers of Amedzope Basic School in the Aframplains South district on the other hand are sadly using same period, scouting the bush for tree branches to build temporal structure for their class.
Amedzope Basic School in the Aframplains South Constituency has been in existence over four years now with a student population of about 80 pupils and four trained teachers. The school is from Kindergarten to Basic three. Hoping to add other classes in the coming years.
The teachers and community members have been to the District Education Office so many times to appeal for help but the problem is still as it is. Students sit in the sand under tattered hut to learn without desks. School closes abruptly whenever it threatens to rain or when the sun is scorching severely.
As if that is not enough, Teachers have no accommodation. Information available to ITN indicates that, As the situation stands now, three newly posted fully fledged teachers share one room due to lack of accommodation. This is very pathetic.
The teachers are frustrated and desperately seeking for intervention. In an emotional video, the teachers are seen kneeling down in the presence of the students appealing to government, the MP of the area Hon Joseph Appiah Boateng and the DCE George Ofori as well as other organizations to come to their aid.
They truly deserve the needed attention.
