End SARS: Actress Toyin Abraham shares how Nigerian Police Force made her friend disable
Veteran Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, recently took to her social media page to state the reasons why she is supporting the End SARS protest which is happening nationwide.
The thespian shared the story of a family friend of hers who was affected by police brutality. With her friend’s permission to share the story, she explained how the young lady was hit by a stray bullet from a police officer on the 23rd of July, 1996 at around 3pm.
She said her friend named Nike Adekanle suffered from the police brutality back in Apata, Ibadan and was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life.
She posted the young lady’s picture with caption:
“This is my family friend Adenike @nikeadekanle .. She wasn’t born like this, it was a stray bullet from the Nigeria police on the 23rd of July 1996 around 3pm in Apata Ibadan and she was in the hospital for over a year. Not even a call or check up or Bill payment by the police. {P.s- I had to get her permission to do this} #endpolicebrutality.”
