ESSIEN Spends £14,000 On A Gretsch Guitar

LOADS of blokes are starting the week in the doghouse for dancing with a woman they shouldn’t have.

Arsenal star EMMANUEL EBOUÉ is one of them – after his one-man stage invasion during a NICOLE SCHERZINGER gig at a plush black tie bash on Saturday night. The married Premier League star was in high spirits at DIDIER DROGBA’s annual charity dinner after the Gunners had earlier gone to the top of the Premier League table. But that turned into over-excitement when the wine started flowing. By 10.30pm Eboué found himself leading the charge over monitors, clambering on stage as the former Pussycat Doll performed Don’t Cha.

I was on a table with a gobsmacked PROFESSOR GREEN and THEO HUTCHCRAFT from HURTS as the midfielder skipped through security and started dancing.

Eboué’s team-mates – including THEO WALCOTT and BACARY SAGNA – were in hysterics as the baffled singer soldiered on like a true professional.

And for all Mrs Eboué was giggling along, it’s the kind of ammunition any wife would tuck away for the next time they go to war. Soon, around half of the footballers and their pals were on stage too, trying to impress with their moves.

It wouldn’t have happened when TONY ADAMS was skipper and BANANARAMA were on stage.

It was a top night at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Didier raised more than £300,000 for equipment at a hospital he has had built in his native Ivory Coast.

Chelsea midfielder MICHAEL ESSIEN spent £14,000 on a Gretsch guitar signed by BONO. The U2 frontman recorded a video message and said: “I bet you are all waiting for me to make a worthy and meaningful speech about all the good work Didier has done in Africa. Well, all I have to say is… WHO LET THE DROG OUT? WHO, WHO, WHO, WHO!”

FRANK LAMPARD was there with CHRISTINE BLEAKLEY, and AKON and JOHN TERRY were kicking around.

THE SATURDAYS also sang – MOLLIE KING is pictured with Didier – which was particularly brave in a room full of half-cut footballers.

Even ASHLEY COLE popped over and said a polite “Hello” – the only man there who really knows what it’s like to be in the doghouse.
