Fan dies at Tic Tac’s pool party Saturday

A male fan drowned at a pool party organized for hip-life musician, Nana Kwaku Duah popularly known as Tic Tac at Rojo Hotel in Nkawkaw in the Eastern region, Saturday.

The 28-year-old man, name withheld, was believed to be an administrator working in Nkawkaw and was reported to have died around 8pm before his arrival at the Holy Family Hospital.

According to a devastated Tic Tac, who confirmed the incident to Myjoyonline.com, he started performing around 7pm and midway through the performance, he saw people rushing to the scene of the accident.

Sources close to the organizers of the event – Levels Man, Rojo Hotel and TN Records -, Summer Pool Party with Tic Tac, which had the Philomena hit maker as the only artiste on the bill, started around 12pm and the deceased was believed to have drowned because he was either intoxicated or did not know how to swim.

According to Tic Tac, who is experiencing such a tragedy for the first time since he started commercial music in 1999, the surprising bit of the accident was that “everyone got out of the pool to see [my] performance,” and was shocked how the man got drowned.

He advised the general public that, they should “just take it easy and always keep their calm,” whenever they attend such events.

Tic Tac, who is also the Greater Accra regional Chairman of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) added that “last but not the least, try not to get drunk if you know you will be swimming. If you don’t know how to swim, please stay away from the pool side.”

Tic Tac is expected to visit the family of the deceased Monday before returning to Accra.
