Fashion Icon awards in Accra

In its second year, the awards scheme was established to appreciate the works of fashion designers in the year under review.

Over the last year, it had provided the means for up and coming designers to show off their talent and also to unearth new talents for the fashion industry and tonight’s show will be no different.

Apart from designers who will have the spotlight on the night, other professionals in the fashion industry will also be honoured for their contribution to the growth of the industry.

In all, winners will be awarded in seven categories which include Fashion Blog/Website of the Year, Fashion Photographer of the Year, Fashion Stylist of the Year, Stylish Creative Director of the Year, Fashion Communicator of the Year ( online), Fashion Communicator of the Year (print), and Best Model Management/ Agency of the Year.

According to the Event Administrator, Jennifer Richlove, the winners were selected based on a set of  criteria by a jury of 60 members from various fashion professional background.

She said this year’s event would be an improvement  of last year’s following the public criticisms the organisers received.

“We took into consideration all the opinions expressed by the public and we hope to have a better event this year,” she stated.
