(Fellow Ghanaians): The president opens schools and border?

The president of the Republic of Ghana, H. E. Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo would be giving his 15th Address to the Nation which has been nicknamed “Fellow Ghanaians”.

The address aims at outlining measures taken against the spread of Coronavirus in Ghana by the government and the people of Ghana.

The first address which took place on the 12th March, the same day Ghana reported its first two cases of Coronavirus saw the ban on social gathering and the closure of schools and Churches.

On the 27th March, the president announced a lockdown and closed our borders to human traffic to reduce imported cases of Coronavirus in Ghana.

The president has been easing the restrictions, as we get to understand clearly how the virus spreads and its other characteristics. Moreso, the World Health Organization (WHO), The Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) have all said we may not see an end to the pandemic in the foreseeable future.
The World Health Organization, in one of its Media engagements said that , Coronavirus has come to stay, and may be like the other diseases such HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Hepatitis B etc.

In view of this, governments are opening up their countries to normal business with safety precautions being observed to stop the spread of the virus.

The president, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo opened Churches, a place which was believed to have the propensity to facilitate the spread of the virus. A month or so after, authorities have not regretted the action to open Churches and mosques.

He has again, opened Schools for final year students to write their exit exams. In all the tertiary institutions that were opened, not a single case was reported to have occured on the campus.

Now the two main things Ghanaians expect the president to talk about in his 15th Fellow Ghanaians address is the fate of schools and borders.

Will he open the borders and the schools as have been the call of many?
