FIPAG To Punish Members For participating In Ghana Movie Awards
The President, Mr. Steve Asare Hackman and the executives of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) have said that they will punish the film makers who submitted their movies for the recently ended Ghana Movie Awards. The group came to a consensus not to be a part of the awards scheme during their general meeting. As at now the executives have not yet decided what punishment to be meted out to the offenders. They assured that in due time they will be penalized to serve as a warning to others.
The association has in the past placed several conjunctions on actions related to film makers and helps to make relevant progress for its members. For four years now the association has been in support of the awards scheme until last year when they renounced their alliance.
There is also a school of thought that the collaboration of the association and Multimedia is the reason for the dettachment from the Ghana Movie awards but they denied it vehemently. Multimedia Group’s satellite television platform, MultiTV, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) to organise an annual movie awards. The agreement will see the two entities jointly organize an annual Ghana Film Awards aimed at rewarding excellence in movie production in the country. This awards will be staged hopefully this year 2015 .
